Let’s go to Nara! After checking out, I took the local line to Nara, with a JR pass. I did not need to book any tickets. It took 50 min from Kyoto station. I left my backpack in a coin locker 600 JPY a day, worth it. Then I went directly to Kofuku-ji temple which is at the entrance of the park where there are plenty of deers begging for food.
It started to rain, but I continued to walk towards the Nandaimon Gate and Todai-ji temple. On my way, I saw a baby deer that wanted to stay with me a bit. He wanted some cuddles. He was cute. It was a nice experience to stay a bit with that special animal.
Did you know that if you bend in front of them then they bend back? People say it is a sign of respect.
The Nandaimon Gate is the south gate of the Todai-ji, the design of the door comes from the Sung Chinese Model at the end of the twelfth century. Inside the door you have two splendid sculptures of 8.4 meters (more information here). After that you have a nice walk until the Todai-ji entrance (600 JPY). It is a buddhist temple, the main hall is the Great Buddha Hall, where you can find a splendid and huge buddha inside. It is impressive. The size is : Width 57.012m, Length 50.480m, Height 48.742m.
After it stops raining, I walk to Kasuga Taisha. The atmosphere was amazing. There was a haze after the rain that gave a special feeling. It was kind of unrealistic. To take pictures was perfect. Then, I walked back to the city to find a place to eat : Kameya for Okonomiyaki. It was good but I think there is something that I don’t like in the preparation like ginger.
To finish the exploration of Nara, I stroll around the street. There was some jazz played in the street. I entered a shop full of color and it turned out it was an arcade game. So I played donkey kong and tetris and I can say that I suck. haha. I went back to the train station to go to Osaka and crashed into the hostel because my ankle said not anymore. So 7 Eleven diner it was.
